What's coming in 2027

While the frost is settling outside, the diary for 2027 is already filling up around Le Dorat. Many of our best local events return on the same rhythm each year, so here is what to pencil in if a 2027 escape is on your mind.

The royal festival returns

The Fêtes Royales de Bellac, the hilltop town's historic royal festivities, traditionally fill the Pentecost weekend. In 2027 that falls on 16 and 17 May, when the streets of Bellac, our nearest town at 12 km, come alive with processions and celebration.

Summer in Le Dorat

A few dates in our own town are worth building a stay around. The monthly fair takes over the Champ de Foire on the 13th of every month, Fête de la Musique fills the streets on 21 June, and the traditional fair and funfair of the Foire de la Saint-Loup rolls into town in early July. On 14 July the Town Hall park hosts the national day celebrations, with concerts from the town's own band, Harmonie Les Enfants du Dorat, and fireworks to finish. Later in the summer, the Concours Hippique National brings national show jumping to Le Dorat, traditionally on the third weekend of August, a treat for anyone who loves horses.

Festival season in Bellac

The 73rd Festival National de Bellac returns in July, bringing theatre, circus and concerts back to the town of Jean Giraudoux. If 2026's edition was anything to go by, with its poetry and emancipation programme, the 2027 line-up will be worth the short drive.

A night at the musical

For something bigger, the Zénith in Limoges hosts the 20th anniversary revival of Le Roi Soleil, the iconic French musical about the Sun King, on 17 April 2027. An evening of spectacle, about 50 minutes away, followed by a quiet drive home to the lanes of Le Dorat.

And December once more

Limoges will wrap itself in lights again for the Christmas market through December, Bellac will hold its own small market in mid December, and the truffle and foie gras fairs will run all winter. It is a fine way to end a year.
